Selin Kent is a New York-based jewelry designer who hails from Istanbul, Turkey.
Selin Kent’s fine jewelry collection is characterized by a minimalist vocabulary of clean lines, architectural forms, and simplified shapes. Incorporating 14k gold with precious stones, a refined yet playful sensibility is applied to each piece. Unique stacking options are explored, such as rings that fit into each other like puzzle pieces. Elegance and balance in design is achieved through a careful study and application of geometry and proportion. The collection consists of modern staples that are understated yet striking, and edgy yet sophisticated.
Shahla launched her namesake label in 2014. She creates visual vignettes through inspired jewelry, distilling beauty from the ordinary. The work features duality; the soft material movement in dance realized with strong rigid lines; NYC subway lines given an organic flow. All pieces are hand made in New York City with recycled metals and conflict-free stones. Shahla is best known for her Subway Series, a collection formed by curving NYC transit lines between some of the city’s most iconic locations. The series has adorned the hands and ears of Lena Dunham, Carrie Underwood, and Idina Menzel.
Shahla has worked in product strategy and merchandising for some of the world’s most esteemed brands and campaigns. She has produced multiple apparel collections for Vogue and the CFDA, working with over 50 leading designers including DVF, Marchesa, and Alexander Wang. Previously, she served as Director of Merchandising for President Obama’s re-election campaign. She is Kentucky bred and Brooklyn based.
